1000th Cup
It’s the final day of the trip and we have just 13 cups to go. It‘s been a wild ride from Canadian coast to coast.
We went to Trinity Bellwoods park this morning and gave out 11 of our remaining cups of coffee. Then moseyed over to meet up with Jeanine Noyes, a Canadian singer songwriter, who did a version of Oh Canada that almost brought the crew to tears. Check out her web page jeaninenoyes.com.
That left us with one cup left to give. We debated for a long time on who or how to give out the final cup. We knew it needed to be special, and we had met so many people we wondered how we could find one person deserving of the one thousandth cup. So in the end we decided to make a very special hand drawn commemorative 1000th cup and give it to Canada at large.
We made a shrine complete with flag and offered the cup as a gesture of thanks to all the people and places we have been a part of the last 10 days. Coffee was the perfect conduit for getting to know people in a hurry. Everywhere we went, we were greeted with open arms and people shared with us such interesting stories all over a cup of coffee. It was a truly unique experience, one that I don’t think I could ever replicate. Little slices of life, from the rodeo to the big city, we did it all. People definitely had unique perspectives on life, coffee, and us, but every one of them was interesting and altered the way I think of Canada.
Thanks to everyone who went on this journey with me, it has been an excellent crew of people involved in this project to make the whole thing possible. I could not imagine doing it without any of them. Also, a big thanks to anyone who has been following along this journey, hope you have enjoyed the stories of the places and people we have seen along the way as we met our 1000 cup goal. This truly was an amazing coffee break, and I’m proud to have been a part of it.
Cheers,
Chris
